Menuism Featured Reviewer: PandaLHU
August 11, 2008
Menuism reviewers are truly awesome! Whether they found an unexpected tasty gem of a restaurant or took it for the team after having a terrible meal, we truly applaud all their efforts in giving us the scoop on where we should be spending our hard-earned money on. On that note, I’d love to introduce you to those reviewers who we feel really contribute quality content to the site as well as quality information to fellow Menuism’ers. Our Featured Reviewer today is Jessica, better known as PandaLHU. So let’s learn more about Jessica from Baltimore!
Introduction
I am the type of person who lives to life and experience the world around me. I had the pleasure to experience many new and exciting things all over the world. I grew up in a small town in PA and then made a big jump and moved to Baltimore to teach. I started in the classroom but now I am a Library Media Specialist.
One of the first things I said when I moved to Baltimore was that I never lived somewhere that had so much to offer so I wanted to experience it all- I was always looking for a great place to try.
1. How did you find out about Menuism?
I was looking for a certain restaurant and its reviews- When I did my google search a review came up under Menuism and I had never seen it before and loved the site.
2. What about Menuism first appealed to you?
I love how you can review dishes not just the place it self- also how you can add pictures under the different categories.
3. What restaurant did you write your first review about?
Mari Luna’s Mexican Grill- One of my favorite Mexican places
4. What is your food philosophy?
Life is full of many things that entice our senses and soul- food is one of the great things to awake our senses and help us enjoy life with our friends and family. People all over the world eat so never be afraid to try something new- someone somewhere eats it!
5. What are your favorite restaurants?
I don’t really have a favorite place- it is hard because I love a lot of places. My top places I guess would be: Jordan’s Steakhouse, Olive & Sesame II, Mari Luna’s Mexican Grill and Thai One On
6. What are your favorite cuisines?
This one is also hard because I love just about everything! I guess I would say Asian (Thai, Chinese, Japanese), Mexican and Italian
7. What are your favorite comfort foods?
Pizza, Lasagna, Burgers
8. What is the best meal you ever ate and why?
One of the best meals I have ever ate was for my 4 year Anniversary at Jordan’s Steakhouse- We had Grilled Caesar Salad: grilled hearts of romaine lettuce, drizzled with Jordan’s Caesar dressing, julienne oven roasted tomatoes, pignoli nuts and Asiago Parmesan (now we make this at home all the time) and filet mignon tordaoes with JUMBO lump crab-meat, asparagus, and mashed potatoes topped with a burmese sauce. Not only was the food out of this world but the presentation and how they made the night special for us (at the top of the first page of the menu is said “Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Lemmo!” and for desert they put a candle in it and a chocolate anniversary sign.)
9. Do you have any favorite cookbooks (if any)?
I wouldn’t say I have a favorite- I have about 20 different ones. I will say my favorite style of cookbook is meals that learn more towards the gourmet but are quick and easy to make.
10. What words of encouragement would you give to first time Menuism reviewers?
Don’t fear what to write- just write about how you felt when you ate (use all 5 senses) and how the restaurant made you feel.
