Menuism Featured Reviewer: ninedosus

December 16, 2008

Menuism reviewers are truly awesome! Whether they found an unexpected tasty gem of a restaurant or took it for the team after having a terrible meal, we truly applaud all their efforts in giving us the scoop on where we should be spending our hard-earned money on. On that note, I’d love to introduce you to those reviewers who we feel really contribute quality content to the site as well as quality information to fellow Menuism’ers. Our Featured Reviewer today is Angie, better known as ninedosus. So let’s learn more about Angie from Birmingham, Alabama.

newfeaturedreviewerangieIntroduction

I’m a married mother of three, and a writer. I live primarily in Oklahoma City, but writing takes me from city to city, which means I get to visit a lot of restaurants. I was raised by a house full of women who made cooking and eating their number one priority. It definitely rubbed off.

1. How did you find out about Menuism?

I overheard a couple talking about it in a restaurant, and figured I’d take a look. Now I’m hooked!

2. What about Menuism first appealed to you?

The detailed reviews. I love being able to review dishes in depth. Also, I know it seems trivial, but the layout is nice and not cluttered or too busy.

3. What restaurant did you write your first review about?

I actually had to go look! It was Alabama Steaks, which I still love to this day.

4. What is your food philosophy?

Keep an open mind, and give everything a fair shake.

5. What are your favorite restaurants?

That’s a tough one. I’m very fond of Panera Bread, and I’m a regular there. Cheesecake Factory is another favorite, because their salads and cheesecake selection (of course) is unrivaled.

6. What are your favorite cuisines?

I have a soft spot for all Thai food. I’m am always searching for the perfect Thai restaurant. The quest for the world’s best sticky rice is a never-ending one

7. What are your favorite comfort foods?

Saltine crackers! How boring is that? Crème brûlée is another one, but that one’s been tricky for me to make well. And nothing really beats a good, deep dish pizza loaded with meats and veggies.

8. What is the best meal you ever ate and why?

Sesame chicken salad and key lime cheesecake from cheesecake Factory. Hands down.

9. Do you have any favorite cookbooks (if any)?

No, unfortunately I’m a terrible cook when I have to follow instructions. My best dishes started out as mistakes.

10. What words of encouragement would you give to first time Menuism reviewers?

Absolutely, be honest. Restaurant owners benefit more from constructive criticism than from empty praise. Also, don’t be afraid to have a dissenting opinion.
